This Privacy Policy applies when you browse the refugeecouncil.lt website and perform the following actions:

  • Complete a volunteer application form;

  • Express your desire to support the Refugee Council of Lithuania (VšĮ Pabėgėlių Taryba) with a donation;

  • Subscribe to our newsletters.

Data Controller

The data controller for the personal data you provide when performing the actions mentioned above is the Refugee Council of Lithuania (hereinafter – RCL).

Data Processing Purposes and Legal Bases

Your data, depending on the actions you perform on our website, will be processed on the following grounds:

  • If you complete a volunteer application form – on the basis of a volunteer work agreement, to fulfill its objectives;

  • If you donate to support our activities – on the grounds provided for in the Law on Charity and Support of the Republic of Lithuania, i.e., for purposes established by legal acts;

  • If you subscribe to our newsletter – on the basis of your consent, we will process your data for direct marketing purposes.

  • If you contact us via website, we would use your provided with your consent contacts to reply to you.

Direct Marketing

Direct marketing is an activity aimed at offering goods or services, promoting events to individuals by mail, phone, or other direct means and/or asking for their opinion on the offered goods or services. Our promotional and direct marketing messages (such as messages about our events or services) are sent to clients who have given their consent to receive direct marketing and promotional offers from the RCL. Such clients receive RCL newsletters and direct marketing messages through their chosen means of communication.

When processing your personal data, we adhere to the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter – the “Regulation”), the Law on Legal Protection of Personal Data of the Republic of Lithuania (hereinafter – “LLPPD”), and the RCL's Personal Data Processing Policy.

By providing us with your personal data, you agree to the provisions of this Privacy Policy (with the exception of data processing actions for which your separate consent will be required). Consent is expressed on the website by marking a “tick” indicating that you have read the Privacy Policy and agree to the processing of your personal data. What Personal Data is Collected and Processed?

Name, surname, phone number, email address, and information about your qualifications, skills, and abilities – if you complete a volunteer application form – so that we can assess your suitability for volunteer activities and, if necessary, contact you.

Email address – with your consent, used for direct marketing purposes, i.e., for sending newsletters, invitations to events, services.

 History of transactions made via the donation link – data necessary for the fulfillment of the transaction.

The listed data can be processed both automatically and non-automatically.

Who Can Access My Personal Data?

Only authorized RCL employees and other persons provided for by legal acts can access your personal data.

With Whom Can Personal Data Be Shared?

The RCL does not transfer or disclose your personal data to any third parties except when it is necessary to:

  • Share data to authorities according to requirements of the law;

  • Fulfill the volunteer agreements;

  • For a donation transaction on the electronic page. How Long is My Personal Data Stored?

Personal data processed for the fulfillment of contracts, sending information, or direct marketing purposes is stored for two years from the conclusion of the last transaction or data update, except in cases where a longer retention of the data is mandatory according to the legal acts in force in the Republic of Lithuania. When personal data is no longer needed for its processing purposes, it is destroyed, with the exception of those that must be transferred to state archives as required by law.

The RCL respects the right to the inviolability of a person's private life and makes all reasonably possible efforts to ensure the security and confidentiality of the processed personal data and other information. To protect your personal data from unauthorized access, unlawful processing or disclosure, accidental loss, alteration, or destruction, we apply measures that comply with the requirements of applicable laws.

How Is Personal Data Stored?

You have the following rights related to the processing of your personal data:

  • The right to access your personal data processed by the RCL. Upon your reasoned request, the RCL: confirms whether personal data related to you is being processed or not, and provides information about the purposes of the processing, the relevant categories of personal data, and the recipients to whom the personal data is disclosed, or the categories of such recipients;

  • The right to demand that we correct inaccurate personal data;

  • When personal data processing is based on consent, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time (such withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal);

  • The right to receive processed personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and the right, under certain conditions, to transfer that personal data to another controller;

  • You have the right to demand the erasure of personal data or to restrict their processing, except in cases provided for by law where this right may be limited;

  • The right to object to the processing of personal data for certain purposes and under certain conditions, except in cases provided for by law where this right may be limited;

  • The right to file a complaint with the supervisory authority – the State Data Protection Inspectorate in Lithuania.

To exercise the right to access your processed personal data, the right to demand correction, erasure, or restriction of data processing, as well as to receive your personal data, you must submit a request to the data controller info@refugeeslt.com, along with a document confirming your identity, in person or through electronic communication means that allow for proper identification, by mail or email. You can also submit these requests through your duly authorized representative.

How long does the company save the data? The company uses the collected data for analysis for up to three years.
