We are happy to share the story of Syed from Afganistan, who received refugee status in Italy and is active in promoting participation of refugees in policy-making processes and is active refugee rights campaigner.

In April 2019, together with six other refugees, he founded the first National Union of Refugees and Exiles in Italy, UNIRE (Unione Nazionale Italian per iUnione Nazionale Italiana per i Rifugiati ed Esuli). The aim of this refugee-led union is to change the negative and toxic narrative around migration by highlighting the active and positive participation of refugees in host societies''.
